Mya is a writer based in New York (ahem, Brooklyn) whose work is known for being a spiky blend of smart, lively, deliciously absurd, and wildly entertaining.
Mya's main specialties and experience include playwriting, TV-writing, comedy, blogging, and webisodes. Additional experience includes screenwriting, radio, writing for kids & teens, musical theatre (book/lyrics), animation, puppets, short stories, news coverage, food writing, and educational content. She's even been hired to write online dating profiles. Really.
Additionally, Mya is the creator and writer of Submitting Like A Man, a viral blog challenging gender bias in the entertainment industry, in which she resubmits all of her previously-rejected work, this time under a man’s name. SLAM has been read about 14,000 times in 51 countries. Her spinoff project of SLAM, The Future Is Female Festival, will launch this March (2017) with nearly two dozen outposts across the U.S. and Canada of theatre artists envisioning women's future.
Mya is also half South African, a freckly person, and a summertime enthusiast. Strawberries are her life force.
